Hiddenite is a transparent pale yellow to emerald green variety of spodumene that is sometimes used as a gemstone. During early mining in the 1880s and 1890s it was also known as lithia emerald. Hiddenite is also strongly pleochroic, showing lighter and more intense coloring when viewed at different angles, it often tends to graduate in colour. It is very sensitive to knocks and will chip if hit too hard. Hiddenite, like Kunzite can fade upon prolonged exposure to bright light and sunlight.
Hiddenite is said to help its wearer to get in touch with their emotions by liberating them from fear and encouraging compassion and loving kindness.
