Blue tiger eye, also known as hawks eye is related to the well known gold tiger eye. During the formation of gold tigereye, the bluish-gray crocidolite is replaced by quartz while its fibrous structure is preserved. In this variety, the transformation is only partial, leaving the blue colour to remain. The shimmering eye-like nature, called chatoyancy, is caused by these newly created fibers.
